Why We Love To Work In Centerville, Ohio
Known for its collection of historic stone homes, this city is located in the heart of the Miami Valley. Centerville is a central point between two big rivers as well as the central point between the cities of Dayton and Lebanon, which is how it got its name. Today, Centerville has a population of more than 23,800; the city is known for its historic homes. Many consider Centerville a friendly city. It is described as a kind and welcoming suburb of Dayton. The city is located in Montgomery County, with a small piece of land in Greene County. In addition to its centralized location, the town’s founder, Benjamin Robbins, named it after his hometown, which is in New Jersey. In 1900, the U. S. Post Office officially changed the spelling of the town’s name to its current spelling, which is Centerville.
As we mentioned above, Centerville is the location of the largest collection of early stone homes in Ohio. These homes are listed on the National Register of Historic Places near Franklin Street and Main Street (which is State Routes 48 and 725). This area is called the Architectural Preservation District. It is considered a reflection of the “Main Street Downtown” era that shaped America in the early 1900s. These homes are notably distinguishable with detail and rich craftsmanship. In fact, they have become a tourist attraction and an asset to the community. Centerville earned the status of a city on Dec. 2, 1968. The Town Hall Theatre in the city is called the “Heart of Centerville.” It has served the community for over 70 years. Centerville’s “Heart of Centerville” features a wide selection of local restaurants to eat at, as well as local boutiques, stores and other businesses in an ambient historic setting.
